I am afraid to ask, but how does the uterus get out of my body? Having never had kids, I would prefer my birthing canal stay the way it is!!!!

How the uterus is removed depends on the type of surgery, your body structure, and the reason for your surgery.

The uterus can be delivered through the vagina, removed through an abdominal incision, or cut into pieces and removed through small lap or daVinci incisions.

Your profile shows you are having the TAH which is a total abdominal hysterectomy and your uterus would thus be removed through an abdominal incision. In your title you mention the daVinci. With that hysterectomy type, the uterus can be delivered vaginally or through small incisions in the abdomen.

Because you have not given birth, it is possible you would not be able to have any type of vaginal or vaginally assisted hysterectomy. However, that doesn't mean you would have to have the TAH, the most invasive hysterectomy type. You could have a lap or daVinci surgery.

Thanks for the response! I need to change my profile. My first doctor said the only option was a TAH. Turns out it is because her practice doesn't have anyone skilled to do the Da Vinci. My second opinion doctor is doing the Da Vinci (a little frustrating from my point of view that doctor 1 didn't refer me elsewhere if there was a lot less invasive procedure for someone with an 18 month old at home!!!!)...

My fibroids are huge (one is 16cm in diameter which I have a really hard time believing - the only symptom was random shooting pain which I thought might be an eptopic pregnancy which in and of itself would have been miraculous).
