did you/would you use a treadmill for walking at home?

I'm 3 days post-op and asked doc today if I could use my treadmill. she said I could. she said to try for 5 mins at a time, 3 times a day, then try to increase the time. she said to do this if my bowels feel sluggish. I asked if that's the only reason for walking, and she also said to keep the lungs clear or something like that.
