ovarian vein blood clot and warfarin (COUMADIN)

Any one else on coumadin or was on coumadin and now isn't? UGH.... I hate this. I have to get my blood tested like every 3 days. I am so sick of needles! This drug really scares me. I really like vitamin K - green leafy veggies. The nurse at my Primary Care DRs office said that sometimes when you go off of coumadin you get a blood clot (if you survive the clot) then you have to be on it for the rest of your life!

I had a clot at 3 weeks post op, was on coumadin for a year and taken off. I have not had another clot and my surgery was 7 years ago. My hematologist has said that if I ever experience another clot I will be put back on coumadin for life.

After the year was up my hematologist did a complete blood work up to see if he could find a reason for the clot. It turns out that I have an inherited blood clotting disorder (Factor V Leiden). It might be a good idea to make an appointment with a good hematologist who can follow your treatment.

I also like green leafy vegetables and never stopped eating them. I just ate less than I would normally eat.

Ok so i have found some others that have had a simular problem.3 days post op i got diagnosed with a pulminary embolisim in my left lung and know iam on coumidin and lovinox shots2x per day. when i got out of the hospital they said i would only only be on lovonox for 3 to 5 days but for some reason my blood is not thinning my blood gets checked every 2 -3 days and my inr keeps going down i have fallowed all the food rules . i am know up to 10mg of coumidin a day and 80mg of lov per day. the dr also want to do a genetic work up on me but they say thay have to wait until i stop the medicine for a month. The Dr say its life thretting but have no answers for me as to why the medicine has not taken effect.
