Regular periods, small polyp and 9mm thick endometrium - D&C?

i am 54, still having regular periods, no heavy or prolonged bleeding, I have a small polyp and 9mm thick endometrium, my dr worries about me still having a period and my endo thickness and has scheduled me for d&c , I'm thinking he's jumping the gun, anybody dtill having periods at 54?

If you are not having any symptoms it may be premature to do a D&C. Your doc is probably being cautious. I'd rather have a D&C then try fooling around with an office biopsy and the D&C provides a much better sample for pathology. Also at that time he can probably remove the polyp too. At your age, I'd probably opt for the D&C just for the peace of mind.
