3 weeks post hysterectomy: slowly recovery

Had a vaginal hysterectomy on Dec 9, 2014 still feel sore and bloated. Was vomitting and felt very nauseous the first 3 days after surgery. I feel good now and just taking it slow. My only concern is the bloating and unable to wear my jeans.

to HysterSisters. We are so glad you found us. Swelly belly is no fun. Most women seem to be past it at 3 months. It stayed with me for about 3 ½ months – most likely because my job involves being on my feet all day long. It's the body's response to protect traumatized tissues as they try to heal. (like an ankle or knee swells after being injured.) It is also known to accompany the “doing to much”itis. Again, it is our body’s way of protecting itself (whether we want it to or not). There isn't much we can do about it other than try to keep comfortable (i.e. wearing comfortable clothes) and getting enough of rest Hang in there -- it will get better, I promise.
