4 days post hysterectomy: What was your most comfortable sleeping position?

I am desperately looking for comfortable sleeping positions. Our sofa reclines so I slept there for the first two night. Last night all I wanted was to lay in bed but the pressure on my stomach and ribs made it next to impossible to relax. I have a lot of vaginal swelling and bruising so I though laying flat would be best, but today I woke up feeling worse than the night of surgery. Do you all have any suggestions? I'm tired, sore, and frustrated. LOL

Re: What was your most comfortable sleeping position?

The first few nights, I was on my back with three pillows under my knees. I am side sleeper so it was uncomfortable, Finally by day 5 I was able to sleep on my side with a body pillow. Turning was a challenge, but I managed.
Now I can turn from side to side without pain.
Hope you find a position that works for you.

Re: What was your most comfortable sleeping position?

Hi

It will get better. I slept on my back with a pillow over my abd for splinting. My husband somehow raised the head of the mattress for me. Now I am able to sleep on both sides fairly pain free.

Re: What was your most comfortable sleeping position?

I have always slept on my back. For me sleeping with my back and head on a slight incline with a wedge pillow under my knees is still the most comfortable sleeping position on the couch. Haven't tried the bed yet, but will probably do something similar to the couch with all the pillows. If you want to sleep in your bed, maybe you can recreate a similar sleeping position with pillows that you were comfortable with on the recliner. Hoping you find that restful position.

On my side with a blanket wedged under my side and stomach. Turning and getting up are still rough

Re: What was your most comfortable sleeping position?

Lots of pillows! I slept upright in bed in a semi reclining position the first few nights.

I'll try making a bed of pillows. I just can't figure out why my ribs hurt so bad! It really feels as though I got hit with a bat ha ha
