Just to encourage you

It is now three months ago that I had my sub-total hysterectomy. I kept my ovaries and my cervix and because I had had C-sections they did it abdominally. It is the best thing that I have ever done.

The wait is the worst part of the whole procedure and the recovery is the most frustrating because I felt so good but wasn't allowed to do anything. I know six weeks seems like a long time but hang in there and TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF...it is worth it in the end.

I am a large woman and went into the surgery at 246, initially I lost a few pounds during recovery because of nausea etc. but that quickly came back on. I wasn't happy but now at 3 months post op I have joined WW and am down 11 pounds. I have more energy to make myself those healthy meals and to exercise.

I am also taking evening primrose oil capsules to help me with any PMS and they seem to help with my night sweats as well.

So, all in all, life is much better (although I still find myself 'checking' when I go to the bathroom LOL...but so far no blood!!!) I have a new lease on life and it is good.

Hope this has helped a few ladies who are patiently or not so patiently waiting for their day in the castle.

Hey, congrats on the weight loss, good for you! It was several months before I stopped "checking" in the bathroom to see that I was NOT having a period! Old habits die hard, that's for sure. So glad I don't have to buy tampons and those mattress-sized pads anymore.

Thanks for the encouragement. I especially appreciated that you said the recovery is the most frustrating.
