You are exactly where you need to be! It sounds as though you are going through a LOT of what I am going through also. My post is listed in here under "Poll: I've gone crazy! I just know it"
I am also 28.
You didn't say why you are having the hyst. It's ok to be scared. You are human.
From the reading I have done, many women say that sex is no different and for some, depending on their circumstances, it is better because they don't have pain like they used to.
Just keep coming back and reading posts, do your research, and the more you know and understand, the better you will feel. The best thing most of us can do is arm ourselves with information. It makes us stronger and we are better at advocating for ourselves with our doctors!
Big for you!
Try out the chat room sometime There is great live support there too if you feel like :hair:

Dear Missy,

I am so glad you found the Hyster Sisters site. It is fantastic.

You are already asking some great questions. There are so many women who have already had their surgeries here and they will be so much help.

I know that you need to plan on lots of rest and pampering after your surgery. There is also some drop down lists on the homepage that are very informative. Scroll down towards the bottom of that page and look for the list called "Ladies in Waiting". There is so much helpful advice there. There is a list of questions to ask at your pre op appointment, advice on what to take to the hospital, preparing your room, how others can help, is sex really the same, and lots more.

Post often here and ask anything. I am having my surgery July 20th and this site has been a Godsend.

Missy

I think it is normal for everyone to be scared as a hysterctomy is major surgery. But just think how great you are going to feel once the surgery is over!

Take Care of yourself the 18th is just around the corner.

Missy,

I'm so sorry you have to deal with pain leading up to your surgery!

Ask your doctor for a prescription for a non-narcotic pain medicine. Some doctors don't allow some of the common medications (like naproxen or ibuprofen) before surgery, others do. You can try a heating pad on your tummy for the pain also. I found this a big help.

If I couldn't be "plugged in" all the time, I used to wear pants with big front pockets and put those portable hand warmers hunters use in there. One brand is Hot Hands and Wal-Mart used to carry it.

I hope this helps get you through. Be sure to call your doctor's office for help with this pain management. You deserve not to hurt.
