Hello Ladies,
I just went for my pre-op appt at the castle today. I expressed concern about getting sick from anethesia to the nurse and she said they had new stuff to give to help alleviate that. She said there was a patch they put on your neck that will help. Has anyone heard of this?

Also, I got the good news that I do not have to "prepare" like an enema or diet changes or anything" (cept the usual don't eat after midnight). Whew...I was glas to hear that.

My other questions are concerning constipation and gas after surgery. What is the best stuff to take? I guess they will have stuff at the castle, but am I assuming right that I may need some OTC stuff at home?

Well, it's drawing near. My surgery is scheduled for 7:30am Oct 16th and they told me to be there at 6:00. They said I was the first surgery so there would be no waiting.

Thank you all for helping me to get much needed answers.

Huggs to you all
Ronda

hello Rhonda

My TAH/BSO is schedlued for 730 AM on the same day as yours. I'll think of you when I go in!
My pre-op is on Monday. I've been bleeding again for the last three weeks so I started taking iron again and called the Doctor to let him know. I know that Monday, they are going to put an armband on me....I freaked. I thought it was a catheter tube of some sort but when I asked, they said it was the little plastic hospital tag.
I have to relax!!!!

Good luck

Hi Ronda! I'm not going to be of any help with the anesthesia part, because I've never had any problems with that (luckily!) I'm sure someone will come along who's heard of that patch and help you out there!

I found that the generic gas relief capsules from WalMart were fine...just remember to take them regularly, and not just when the pain hits! That way, you can avoid most of the discomfort associated with that!

You are so lucky that you don't have to do the enema thing..I eneded up having to use three before it finally worked!

Best of luck to you for an uneventful surgery and recovery!

Yayyy!

It's almost time! Some of the ladies used Gas X and said it worked well for them and Milk of Mag works pretty well, but oh yuchy...it is sooo grose!!! I avoided carbonated beverages like the plague after. Every time I drank a diet coke I paid for it in big time GAS!!!! Not pretty!!! Drink plenty of 100% fruit juices and cranberry juice worked great for me for the bladder. It really helps keep things flowing well and prevents bladder infections.

Best wishes to you! You will be in my thoughts and prayers as you go to the castle!! Take excellent care of yourself and let others do things for you!!
