Finally a Princess

Thank You Ladies for all the wonderful support.

I am 6 days post op now and doing really well. I am slowly weening myself of my pain meds, usually only taking the strong ones first thing in the morning and then just paracetomol for the rest of the day. Life is starting to look up and it's great to be on the other side.

I was given all sorts of anti nausea meds after the surgery but i'm afraid by stomach is so touchy I was still throwing up, the poor nurses didn't know what to do with me for the better.

Anyway, I must say, the whole experience was not anywhere near as bad as I had expected. I am sure the benefits are going to well outway the one bad week I have had and if given the chance I would do it again if I had too.

Best Wishes to All of you with up and coming surgeries....the waiting was really the very hardest part.

Also 6 days post op from castle

Hi Shyflower,
Glad to hear that you are now on the road to recovery. You are exactly correct, the whole ordeal was not as bad as I thought it would be. I had a TAH BSO on 8/9/05 also and returned home on Thursday evening around 7:30. My doctor would not let me leave until I ate some solid food and kept it down. Had some nausea but no vomiting. My anesthesiologist gave me some good meds. Also got the staples out the day I left for home. Not bad, just a bit "pinchy".
I am doing fairly well now, only using advil and tylenol for the incision pain about every 4 hours. If I am having trouble sleeping I will take 1/2 vicodin along with the advil. If I sit up too long, my lower back and tummy start to ache. That goes away if I lie down with a pillow propped under my knees and a couple for my back. It also helps for those of you with TAH to buy a pair of flexee panties. They have just enough spandex to help hold in your sore tummy. Get one size larger than you normally wear.
Glad to finally be a princess!
