Returning back to work

Returning back to work after your hysterectomy can be a difficult time. I planned my last two weeks at home my return back to work. One of the best things that I did for myself was I began my morning at the time I normally would get up. I ate breakfast, showered and put on my makeup and clothes. No, I didn't dress up, but I did get out of my favorite and comfortable pjs. The other thing I did that was very helpful was I stopped taking a nap during the day. You think that will be an easy task, but I'm here to tell you, it wasn't easy and boy did I miss my daily nap(s).
I will say though that I wish I had started taking extra Vitamin C. I returned back to work with everyone in the office sneezing and coughing and yep, you guessed it - I got sick just 3 days back to work and had to call out sick on my 5th day back to work. I was so frustrated, but realisticly I had been couped up in my house for about 8 weeks and had not really be exposed to anything other than what my son would bring home from school.
Of the best things that I packed in my bag for work each day was my ice pack. Not only did I love my quiet time at lunch, but I loved my ice pack even more then eating! You would be surprised how much it helped even for an hour.
Taking it nice and slow, communicating with your boss what your restrictions are, being good to yourself will help you adjust and ease back to work. I am 18 weeks post op (TVH Bilateral), I still have my ups and downs since I have only been back to work for 10 weeks - it may sound like a long time but it really isn't - but I have learned to take one day at a time and to remember that no body loves me like I do.
I'll see you at the coffee maker!
