Still swollen after 4 months !!!!!

Hello all,
I wanted to know if any of you can help me. I'm 4 months post op abdominal hyter. (SAH) The swelling in my stomach hasn't gone down much at all, and I'm still pretty sore and numb. I've heard it can take 6 months, but I just can't see it getting much better in 2 months.. I've always had a flat stomach so I'm a mess about this!! Can anything be wrong????

Thank you,

Linda

Still swollen after 4 months !!!!!

I am 4.5 months from a TAH. I also and still swollen and have tightness in my groin area and sore pelvic bone. I will see a new doc tomorrow for annual checkup. I have been going to physical therapy the last month to help with scar tissue. I will keep you posted.

Good Luck

Still swollen after 4 months !!!!!

My doctor said the numbness is permanent - I was warned before surgery that the incision site and the area around it would become numb. I'm at 9.5 weeks and my swelling comes and goes....sometimes my stomach is almost flat and other times it is very puffy. Is yours swollen constantly? The information I've heard is slightly different than what you've been told..I've heard that between 6 and 12 months is when you really start feeling good so maybe it just needs a bit more time.

Still swollen after 4 months !!!!!

My swelling comes and goes and it is driving me crazy. So many of my clothes don't fit. This past weekend I went on a trip to Cedar Point with my son's middle school band. We left at 5am and didn't get back until 10pm. I'm certainly paying for that. I'm back to a heating pad at night and having lots of back pain by mid day. Have you had that?

Still swollen after 4 months !!!!!

I'm a bit over 3 months post op. I still get the soreness and swelling belly thing. I found that if I don't do much, I am not sore/swelly. I know with having kids, household to take care of...it's hard not to do to much. I try to do at least one thing a day, to keep up with it all. On top of all this. I start a new job on Monday. I'm looking forward to working but i know for the first couple of weeks (i hope) it'll be rough for me.

I heard from my doctor that I wouldn't feel completely normal until 6 months to a year. Take care of yourselves. God bless all of you.

Still swollen after 4 months !!!!!

I have to say the swelly belly news is so discouraging. I don't remember being warned about that by my Dr. Not that it would have mattered I would still have had surgery but at least I would have been better prepared. As it is I am 3 and 1/2 weeks post-op and wish I could cut this pouch right off. It is so uncomfortable and none of my clothes fit. I had to go buy a size bigger in pants. I can't wait to feel better and more normal!

Still swollen after 4 months !!!!!

I am 11 weeks out and still get the swelly belly.

L Thootie, you mentioned sore pelvic bone. I still get pain there frequently. I have not seen many women say much about the pelvic bone. I have thought in the past week I may go see the DR about it.

Take Care

Still swollen after 4 months !!!!!

Yes the pelvic bone. I have been working with a physical therapist to stretch out the liagments that run from the hip bone through the groin and into my thighs. I came from the doctors today and he told me it could take me another month or two to feel better. I left my dr who did the surgery, and saw this doc at 11 weeks. He thought I looked much better than I did and it will take me longer than some to recover. My pubic bone is still tender especially on the sides. It feels very bruised. This too will go away...not fast enough!!!! I am almost 5 months and this has been a wild adventure. I will keep you updated.

thanks

Still swollen after 4 months !!!!!

I had my surgery the same day as you and I am still swelling. I am still having to wear stretch pants because of the swelling being so unpredictable.
