Period Just couldn't wait!

Hey anyone,

I am scheduled for Davinci Hysterectomy on Sept 1. Was hoping my period would not come before, but low and behold it showed up and I will proably be on during the surgery. Did this happen to anyone else. I sure did not want to be on my period during the surgery. What are ya'll thoughts.

Re: Period Just couldn't wait!

Yes, I did have my period for my surgery on Aug 24th, I thought it was great actually, went in with a feminine pad and came out with nothing. I was a fortunate one that has not had bleeding post op from a LAVH /TAH. While you are waiting before surgery you just have their pads in those crazy meshy type undies. I dont think there's anything to worry about, but always talk to your doctor for reassurance .

Re: Period Just couldn't wait!

lol it's my worst nightmare, the last surgery i had I came on that morning and they wanted me to go to theatre with nothing there it was a no go for sure the way i bleed it would have been hitting the floor before i was under so off to surgery i went on an incontinence sheet with pads under me and between my legs. I came out with virtually nothing they did a d+c as an extra just to help me it was great I finished within a few hours of starting usually they last about 14 days or more

Re: Period Just couldn't wait!

I think that is my worst fear too, and I am so glad you asked!! I am sooo irregular, and the last few days I have been having major pain that I have attributed to the huge cyst I have, however this morning one of my co-workers who has had a lot of similar problems mentioned that I may be getting ready to start my cycle.

I just had my surgery date pushed up to Friday, and suddenly started worrying about what if I start my period! Thank you Blessie for mentioning it! I know they usually tell you to strip down, but I too have such a heavy and clotted flow that "strip down" soooo will not work!!

Re: Period Just couldn't wait!

poor thing! Usually they will just have you on "chucks" or those blue pads...i know this bothers you but dont worry about anyone else..they have more than likely seen it all lol. Hope you feel better soon!!!

PS; i am a nurse, its our job to take care of you haha, you just focus on getting better!

GOD BLESS~~~

Re: Period Just couldn't wait!

Yes, my period started the day before surgery. I even rang the hospital to ask if it would be a problem, but the nurse said of course not. I did feel uncomfortable lying on that table bleeding with no underwear, but nobody else thought it was weird and waking up with no blood ( also a lavh) was very nice!

Re: Period Just couldn't wait!

Started my period two days before surgery, sucked cuz it was a bad one. But it was awesome waking up without cramps and no bleeding.

Re: Period Just couldn't wait!

I started the day before surgery and it was HORRIBLE.. it started after work all over the seat of DH's car! When we got to castle the next morning they wanted me to strip down to nothing. well I left my underware and pad on when the nurse came back in I told her she said that was fine the would take them off, dr came in and i told him and he said that is fine also.. I told them they could cut them off and burn them if they felt so led.. and DH chimed in with me and said thats what we are going to do once this is all over!! Dr. and nurses laughed and said ok. as you wish..
I agree with the others that have posted it is SO nice to go in bleeding and come out with NOTHING!!... I took a handful of pads to the castle came home put them on the back of the toliet thinkin i might need them... finally passed them onto my step-daughter to use! Oh what a feelin"!!!
