2 1/2 weeks post hysterectomy. Why am I so tired?

My total hysterectomy was 2.5 weeks ago and I'm feeling horrible. No pain, but I feel sick and exhausted. I'm not sure if it's sudden lack of hormones, or loss of blood during surgery. Anyone else experience this? If so, how long does it last? Thanks

Re: 2 1/2 weeks out. Why am I so tired?

You're not quite halfway through a recovery that typically takes about six weeks, so your body is still using lots of energy to heal. That leaves you less energy for other activities. Be kind to yourself. When your body wants to rest or nap, do that.

My surgery was February 1st. I'm still tired a lot. I'm starting to have more energy now but not better.

You are only 2 weeks out from major surgery, where there was a lot of cutting going on inside your body. That's a big deal, and an exhausting process for your body to go through. All of the healing that needs to occur is exhausting as well. Make sure you are getting plenty of rest and not trying to do too much. You will begin to feel a little better each week. It's been 11 weeks for me and I still feel worn out at times. I really feel like I went back to work too soon, and my job is exhausting, so it's been hard for me to get away from the fatigue.

I had my surgery1-29. I'm just niw starting to feel more energy. I was worried same as you. It was getting up the stairs. I was totally out of breath and my heart would pound. But as of just yesterday I noticed it's better. Yes it does take time. Our poor bodies are working hard to get us better

Same here. Mine was 3 weeks ago and there are times I feel like I'm raring to go only to just lose the energy ten minutes later. I'm still tired more than not and I know that it's normal, but it's so frustrating at times!

Re: 2 1/2 weeks post hysterectomy. Why am I so tired?

I'm 2 1/2 weeks out too and still tired. I returned to work this Monday and have barely enough energy to make it through the 7.5 hour day. I have been taking 20 minute naps when I get home from work. Seems to help a little bit. The doctor told me I'm severely anemic, so I'm sure that plays a big part in it too. Hope you get some rest!
