Hi everyone. I am new...just found this site a few days ago and have been devouring all the great information. I am 48 and have been havign a lot of pelvic pain and bleeding for several months now. My dr. has scheduled me for a Hysterectomy on July 9 (TAH and BSO). I am ok with the decision.....feel its the best one for me...gettign kinda tired of being poked and prodded and run through every test and procedure known to mankind. But, I am also very anxious and nervous. I have never had any type of surgery and never had any 'female' problems up until this year. I am thankful for the info here as far as helping me know what to expect..but I am still scared...worried about my recovery (brand new grandson here that I am supposed to be caring for when his momma goes back to work). How long afterwards before I can expect to hold him. I am confused and panicking.
Thanks for your understanding and any advice you may have for me.

Hi, I'm also on the 9th. I have found so much wonderful information and support here at hystersisters. I'm 38 with 4 children so my main conern at the moment is my family coping while I'm out of action. I guess they will appreciate me!!! Anyway I'm just looking forward to being a better wife and mother and best of all....a much happier person without the pain. How lucky are we to have all of this information and support.

Take care, be positive and keep in touch

Hi Carla! There is soooooo much info here. I'm 10 hours & counting down, so the best thing I can suggest is buy the HysterSisters Guide - Through The Land of Hyster. It's going to the hospital with me in the morning. I haven't had female problems till the last year either, but here I am about to have TVH with TVT. I do know you'll need to rest as much as possible after the surgery & lifting will be a no no for a good while. Things to consider with the new grandbaby. Congrats by the way!!!

Hi carla Nice to meet you! I'am also having my TAh on 07/.9..Hystersisters has been a wealth of info for me. Actually the site should come with a warning "addicitive". I have never posted or blogged or even been internet savy but I can't seem to stay away. I love the advise and Friendships!

Carla, I had a TAH/BSO and was told I could lift nothing over 10 pounds that I could lift with one hand only. Did I adhere to that? No and I may end up paying for it later on down the road. You need to expect to be tired, exhausted, in pain, and out for the count the first few days so taking care of a grandbaby might be outside the limits of what you will be capable of. Is there someone else that can help you with him? You're going to need alot of rest (READ SLEEP) and new babies aren't exactly known for sleeping a good 8 hours at a time.

Thanks to ((((all))) for your replies and good wishes. I wish you all well also.

Mrs0323....the baby's mom can care for him...my daughter..but it will mean she delays returning to work. I feel just awful about that. But, everyone here is very supportive...hubby, daughter, son, son-in-law, etc... That is the only family I have near...friends too for that matter. We live in Hawaii and pratically everyone we know is on the mainland. My hubby is in the Navy...a submariner. I am just praying right now that he will be home when i have my surgery, but that is up in the air right now.
Got my finger, toes and all else crossed.

Hi carla, welcome. All the ladies here are great. And yes all these sites are just wonderful, and should help you out. I also go on the 9th too. I have had about 4 female type surgeries so far in my life and i'm 45. So I am looking forward to having everything removed this time around. Best of luck to you. law1961
