Stomach burning - 4 weeks post hysterectomy

I'm going for my 4 weeks after abdominal hysterectomy my stomach is feeling very funny ...burning sensation and still felling very numb and feeling. Is this normal ? And how will one tell if internal stitches have torn?

Re: Stomach burning

Hi,

For that reason I still take my pain meds. I also have a lot of lower belly pain or a burning sensation. I even get the stabbing pains now and again. Everything for me still goes numb from the lower belly down to my butt. My doctor told me it was the nerves endings reconnecting. When in doubt call your nurse, that is what she is there for. Happy Healing! Sending hugs!

Re: Stomach burning - 4 weeks post hysterectomy

and , it sounds like nerve damage. That seems to take longer to heal than the incisions themselves - for some Sisters it takes up to a year, while others retain some numbness permanently (see Abdominal Numbness After Hysterectomy) .

I had a numb spot between two of my laparo incisions. It was strange - felt like a deep bruise, the skin was numb, yet anything pressed against it felt like it was stinging or burning. At the 4 month mark I realized I could lean up against the kitchen counter without pulling back, though it was 2-3 months longer before I could wear my phone in my exercise belt when I'd go for a run. At 10+ months I still can tell where it was/is, but it no longer interferes with anything I do.

Re: Stomach burning - 4 weeks post hysterectomy

Its a normal part of recovery from incisions or when muscles are pulled aside..Sensations of numbness, hot, stabbing, tingling, etc.. Those sensations are more prevalent earlier in recovery & most will subside in time. Numbness may improve but in some cases it may remain. It does get better!🐦
