No more painkillers?? :(

I was only given Tylenol 3 and not enough to even last a week taking them regularly. I have been trying to manage with extra strength Tylenol and iboprofen and it really doesn't cut it, I savoured my last few pills and have been taking one a day, but I only have one left. I called my family dr yesterday as my gyno is on holidays and I can't seem to get anyone to call some in for me. I could get some more but that would mean a trip to the ER and the thought of sitting there waiting for 4 hours (I'm in canada) or just making due with OTC is such a toss up, Monday is a holiday so I won't be able to get anything until at least Tuesday. I'm 9 days post op. Has anyone out there managed ok with just OTC pain meds after 9 days?? I had a laproscopic vaginal hysterectomy.

Re: No more painkillers?? :(

I went all day today without any pain pills or Advil or Tylenol. Although I have a headache and am thinking of taking something but surprisingly I have nearly no pain from the surgery. I would go to the ER and get what you need to be comfortable. You won't heal as well if you are in pain.

Re: No more painkillers?? :(

How many and often are you taking the tylenol and ibuprofen? I didn't take any perscription meds, but instead managed on a combo of Tylenol ex st. and Ibuprofen. I would take 2 tylenol and then 4 hours later take 3 ibuprofen. Then...each day added an hour between until I was a 6 hour intervals, then cut back on the amount. I was off everything at about 7 or 8 days. I agree with CA...if you are in pain, do what you have to do to get what you need to make yourself comfortable so you can heal properly. Everybody is different and that includes pain levels! No need to suffer. wishing you well!
