"It was the biggest uterus my doctor has ever seen!"

Hello,
My hysterectomy was supposed to be a laproscopic full leaving in the ovaries and I was supposed to have general anesthesia. When I arrive I find out that I will have an epidural for the entire time including my overnight observation! Anywho, turns out the uterus had to be removed vaginally! After she got in there with all of the tools, she realized it wouldn't come out that way because "it was the biggest uterus she'd ever seen! It was horrible!" Has this happened to anyone else?

Re: "It was the biggest uterus my doctor has ever seen!"

I asked my doctor to take pictures. Oh man. It was a terrifying sight! I had not so lovingly been referring to it as my basketball...what's bigger than a basketball? That's what I should have been calling it. LOL Good riddance!

I knew going in that I'd be having the vertical incision, however it was unclear if I'd be able to keep my ovaries. Turns out the monster had only gobbled up one of them and I was able to keep the other. yay!

I hope you're healing well.

Yes, I broke my doctor's record with a huge fibroid/uterus. It weighed 4.17 lbs! Luckily, he was able to put it in a bag and cut it into little pieces and got it out of the incision over my belly button with the robot. It's so crazy to think I was walking around with that huge thing in there for so long! Hugs and healing vibes to you!

Wow, crazy what we go through! lol, my beast of a fibroid was 14cm huge and trying to be born! Had dilated my cervix to 5cm, no wonder the pain felt like labour, it was! lol

Mine was over 4 pounds too! it was over 23 cm. I don't think it did anything to my cervix. It concentrated it's pressure on my bowel and caused me pain in my back and legs. My back is still hurting very badly but I haven't had any leg pain since the surgery. I just realized that now!
