Things to remember for your up coming surgery

~Practice getting in and out of the car before you go so that you will know if you need to take a different one, bring a foot stool, sit in the front vs the back- all that jazz. I thought we would be taking my car but my mom's SUV was the perfect height to ease into without needing a foot stool or lowering myself down and then having to boost up a bit.

~Have a good plan for at least 3 weeks on how you will walk your dog. One little pull from them to chase that rabbit that you never expected can really mess the rest of your week up.

~Take all the help you can from your friends and family. They will help you, but you need to give them the chance. Don't be afraid or too proud to ask for help.

~Flip-flops are great post op shoes if you are used to wearing them. As are slippers with tread. Things with laces are BAD and EVIL!!!

~This sounds a little odd, but put a walking stick next to the shower if you have to climb into the tub to take a shower. This will help you get in and out after those first few days when you should have someone with you.

~If you have to feed the dog, put their bowl up on a foot stool so that you don't have to bend down to grab it or drop the food in.

~Have a plan, think of everything that you do in a day and then 10 ways to make that one thing easier for you! Give yourself lots of options for the different degrees of "good" and "bad" that you will be feeling.

Good luck!
