?? for Runners/exercise

I am 4weeks post op on wednesaday and my dr said I could try running as I have been chomping at the bit for a week now. My pain has not been bad and I only use Ibuprofen at night.

( know that I am very lucky as I have read and feel for alot of the women who are having alot of pain and problems with recuperation. Due to my job I have to be in good shape and running has been and was a must, until the surgery!)

Today I gave it a try and ran 2.5 miles....before surgery I was running 3 a day and doing weights. Until about a 1/4 mile it was tugging and feeling tight...then after that I felt really good, the pain was not any worse than what I had before with all the endo/cycsts/fibroids/adhesions...

SO....any advice from those of you who are runners to help make the transition back any easier? How far and when did you run? I am also using the Traumeel cream for swelling, which isn't too bas but I am assuming it may be later tonight.

Any info would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Judy

Hi! Glad to see a post from a fellow runner. I did not run until 10 weeks post op. This will be my 3rd week back at it. I waited until I felt that I was ready. It sounds like you felt ready. I just went real slow at first. I usually run with someone, but I did the first few runs alone so that I could set the pace. It did get better each time. I did also feel the tugging and tightness. It does feel real good to be back at it. It was the one thing that really made me feel like I was back! I usually run a marathon each year, this year I think that I will just take it easy. My first run post op was about 2 miles. I am up to 5 miles now. Good luck!
