Mood swings are bumming me out!
Hey everyone,
how have you all dealt with mood swings? are you having mood swings at all? I find one minute I am great, and the next I feel sad, and the next I am really angry. I feel a little crazy at this point. I do take medication for depression, so I figured that would mediate any mood swings but I was wrong. Also, I had a tvh with both ovaries left in place, so whats the deal? Why is this happening?
<sigh>. just one more thing to dela with during recovery.
hugs to all,
JennyAnn

Re: Mood swings are bumming me out!
Sigh!
Yes, this one more thing to deal with. It is very common. So don't worry too much. You body & your mind needs to adjust to the changes!
Up till yesterday I thought I didn't have the moodswings. Boy, was I wrong! I went thru the whole spectrum from being very angry till feeling very good within one hour! My DH and stepson didn't know what was happening to them. I had a lot of stress though yesterday, so that might have provoked it as well.
Hang in there! A lot of hystersisters are in this together.

Re: Mood swings are bumming me out!
mood swings are common after surgery any surgery even with the ovarys left in place they can be " in shock" and not produsing hormones. I would call the dr because if this is the case there are medications that can help you...

Re: Mood swings are bumming me out!
I haven't had any yet, but I've been on high alert for them . When I started peri-menopause a couple yrs ago, I really felt it. I wasn't depressed or sad but I felt like I was always itching for an argument with my boss or husband. I went to the dr. and he put me on HRT and it was completely gone in a matter of a few weeks. I'm not on anything now and my ovaries are gone, so I keep expecting the demon in me to show up again. I would at least discuss this with your dr. and see if they can give you temporary HRT or something else.

Re: Mood swings are bumming me out!
I had my LAVH on 6/23 - kept overies as well. My mood swings started in at about 3 weeks and just kept getting worse. Crying one minute and a B@#@# the next. I talked to my dr about it at that time and was told it was normal and would get better. Well, mine didn't get better. I called my dr last week and discused with nurse who said they would call me back, they never did. The stress in my life along with healing from the surgery and then complications made it all worse. Then I found out my slow recovery was in part due to gallbladder problems. So when I was told yesterday that I had to have surgery tomorrow to have my gallbladder removed, I totally lost it. My crying all the time went to total sobbing. When I called the doctor this time he listened. Sitting in front of him unable to stop crying and *****ing at the same time he saw what I was going through. He put me on Lexapro but because it takes 2 weeks to kick in he also but me on Adavan. Right now I feel pretty good. Sorry - I was rambling - My point is if you are have problems please talk to your doctor and get something to help you though this.

Re: Mood swings are bumming me out!
I was put on the patch hormones and was having bad mood swings... I called the dr and they told me to use 2 patches instead of one and it has helped my mood swings. This in no way means you should put 2 patches on, it could be dangerous, but i am saying call the dr theres stuff they can do to help you. I am also only 23 so they do not want me to go through the "change" yet due to the risks associated with it.
Sorry to hear about your gaulbladder, Ive had mine removed so I know what it is like in my case gaulbladder surgery was much easier than this one. good luck and feel better all
