My Dr. said my body was "smoking" a lot during cauterization.

Hello~
I'm home from the hospital and feeling great....4 days post-op. My surgery took about 45 minutes longer than usual. (Had a TVH kept ovaries) Dr. said every time they would go to cauterize me, the smoke was very thick, and they had to change equipment, then finally just wait for the smoke to clear. When he told my family they all laughed. He said I may just have a lot of fluid in my body????? Has anyone heard of this? All in all, I am so glad I did this. I am not going to miss carrying around a uterus the size of a 20 week pregnancy. Hope I'm not speaking too soon, but I really feel good. There is hope out there for those of you who are pre-op! Hugs and best wishes to all of the Hyster Sisters!

Believe, I never heard of that smoking situation used by a doc. Maybe doc was joking?? Maybe when they cath. you, they had problems with the foley. Glad you are feeling ok. My first week I felt good only because I took my pain meds on schedule. After second week felt worse. Take care, Blinky

Thank you

Thank you for the replies! I'll keep taking the meds. I hope my second week isn't worse. I'm glad I found this site to hear other's stories...things won't be such a surprise when/if they happen. Best wishes for both of your recoveries too!
