Day 6 Post-Op: night sweats and flashes

Hi Ladies,

I had my surgery 6 days ago. Everything went well. Thank God. No pain since day 2. Just a little soreness. It feels kind of like I've been doing sit-ups and my muscles are sore.

However, I seemed to be having night sweats & flashes during the day. Does anyone know if this is normal or if I could possible be going into menopause?

Re: Day 6 Post-Op

I had the same thing happen. (Even though I retained my left ovary) my doctor informed me that if both ovaries are removed you will be in surgical menopause, but even if you retain one or both ovaries they tend to temporarily go into shock and stop working for a time. From immediate following surgery to about 3 - 4 weeks post op, I was started on hormone replacement, but stopped when my ovary began to function again. I would suggest speaking to your doc & seeing what options are available to help you and your symptoms, even if temporary.
Hugs

Re: Day 6 Post-Op: night sweats and flashes

I'm 8 days post op and going through the same thing sister! I am anxiously awaiting the day my ovaries wake up.

At least we're at home, so we can rip off the clothes and strip down we when get overheated!

The night sweats are what get me, I wake up in the middle of the night FREEZING because I am covered in sweat...yuck!

I Talked to doc about it he says if this is still going on in week 3 that they may give me HRT to give those little guys a jump start.

Hang in there!
