I'm afraid of things falling out or not working right!

Hi, I'm new to this board, but so glad I found you guys!!

I am having surgery soon, not sure when, but will know on Oct 19th and I'm so scared of all the things I am reading about things that could fall out, or not work anymore because of the hysterectomy.

Can anyone help me with these fears? Any advice, encouragement is sooooo appreciated!!

Dear Udderbeeb:

Welcome to HysterSisters

What symptoms are you experiencing that is leading you down the path to surgery? Have you gotten more than one medical opinion to seek out other treatment options?

I hope you are able to get more answers on the 19th. Keep us posted

Hi Udderbeeb to Hystersisters

We are so happy you have found Hystersisters as a means of support.

Have you checked out the Resource section yet?
There may be some helpful articles that may help answer some of your questions. You can access resources by Clicking Here....

While it is helpful to read and research all that is involved, please keep in mind that each of us will have a different experience and recovery time from our surgery.

You didn't mention the reason for your hysterectomy or type of surgery you will be having. There may be some helpful articles in resources that will provide you with alternative treatment options depending on the reason for your surgery.

It is normal to have some concerns and to be nervous before your upcoming surgery date. It may be very helpful to have a second or even third opinion to be certain that you have researched all options prior to making your decision.

Best Wishes

I'm afraid of things falling out or not working right!

Thanks for the replys and advice! After 2 opinions, one from my doc and one from another highly recommended doc, I decided this was the best for me. Large fibroid, size of infants head, and enlarged uterus, size of 4 month prego woman, made other procedures no go. I am getting to feel a little better about this, but still scared. Maybe I should go for a third opinion?

It's a big decision that only you can make. There is a ton of information on this website. I am almost 6 weeks post op and am so happy I did it. My uterus was trying to escape all by itself and that is why I needed a hyst. Now it's out..I am healing nicely and NO MORE PERIODS!!!!
