anyone else having wierd cravings

Is anyone else having strange cravings? I made my mom make a casserole she has not made in 22 years for me. I hate popcorn and its all I have wanted. I love sweets and have a major sweet tooth and have wanted no sugar. ... I am losing my mind! Lol

Re: anyone else having wierd cravings

YES! Well yes on the cravings...no your not losing your mind. . When I first got home from hospital the only thing I wanted to eat was my moms fantastic kale soup. (Its a Portuguese thing.) I too usually have a sweat tooth, but candy didn't appeal, I wanted tons of fresh fruits/juices and protein. I also used to crave carbs like bread, noodles etc, now I pretty much skip them altogether. I am a pretty firm believer in eating what your body tells you it needs.

Oh gosh yes and at 6 wks post op, I'm still not back to my normal foods. I have never liked water, loved pop. Now can't drink pop and I love water. Chocolate chip cookies are disgusting and so is american cheese. I wanted broccoli soup the whole 1st week after surgery. And my portions are not where what I used to eat. The only thing still consistent with my post surgery "me" is that I still luv Mexican food.

I was starving for pickled beets. Crazy I know. The real surprise was I ate so many it tinged my URINE RED, I thought oh fabulous now what. But I am fine, look at it as a lot of red dye. LOL Silly me... I am now over the craving of beets

Re: anyone else having wierd cravings

I usually am wheat free in my diet, but post surgery its bread bread bread!

Oh and cookies, candy bars and ice cream...the only saving grace is that my portions are small so my weight is still down (although I worry its more that I am loosing muscle from not going to the gym for the last5 weeks).

I've always liked chocolate but I can't get enough of it. I'm also craving red meats. That one is weird for me sense I used to be all about chicken and chicken doesn't even sound good now.

Beets will do that, dye your urine. It does not take much. I love beets, especially pickled. I tried them a different way. Roasted beets with a little habenero-orange vinegar. Awsome!
