Silly hyst preparations

I'm going to the castle tomorrow (TAH/BSO) and of course have everything ready and feel no stress ;-) So in my "spare time" today I purchased 3 funny greeting cards. The first has already been sent to my DH to thank him for everything he is about to do for me. It should arrive on surgery day.

The second card (for DH) will be mailed by a friend from work to arrive sometime during week 2 post-op. I've apologised for being so cranky and high maintenance (that may or may not be funny by then).

And the third I'm sending to me. The friend at work will mail it next week. I have told myself to "walk, walk, walk" - but don't overdue, "drink, drink, drink", and get lots of rest. Obviously I'm easily amused.

I'm wondering what some of you have done that's a little "out of the ordinary" during your preparations.

Silly hyst preparations

I sent my boyfriend an email ahead of time with all the little things that I thought he could do to comfort me and be of help to me (even down to little pet peeves I have about how my house is kept). It was sort of a 'honey do' list. It gave him something to go by when I was feeling too icky to tell him how to help me.

He laughed at some of the things and said that anyone who knows me would know those things but said that it was a great idea. He said that he refered to it many times during my first couple of days home.

One day I was so nauseated that I don't think I could have even told you my own name and he did everything he could find on the list to help. It made a HUGE difference. He said he would have felt helpless without it.

Goofy, but it worked out well for us.

Still smooching sweethearts even after those first few days that I was at my ickiest.

I think it is a wonderful idea sending the card to your dh!! I wish I had thought of it! Those last days (or weeks) can be so long. I spent a lot of time rearranging my hospital bag. I couldn't quite decide what I wanted to take. I wound up spending one night in the castle so I didn't need all the things I brought. I think I brought enough to stay 3 days. I am a notorius overpacker anyway. lol

Good luck on your surgery tomorrow.
