Blood clot in ovarian vein???

I had a TAH on September 28th. According the the ultrasound, the Dr. said that there should be no problem with me keeping both ovaries. When I woke up in the recovery room, she told me that she ended up taking the right ovary due to a suspicious looking area on the vein leading to the ovary. I went in for my first post op this week and she informed me that that suspicious looking area was a blood clot. Pathology showed that it occurred approximately 4-6 weeks prior to my surgery. Now, I have to go to a hematologist after my 6 week post op. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Thanks.

Re: Blood clot in ovarian vein???

I was referred to a hematologist before my first surgery because there is a mutant blood clotting gene in my family. Perhaps there is concern you might have one also. They took between 8 to 12 vials of blood and checked me for every known mutation.
