right thigh numb

i noticed that I have numbness to the top of my right thigh. It goes about 1/3 to 1/2 down the thigh from the hip... I can still move my leg. It just feels funny. Has anyone else had this problem? I had laparoscopic surgery to no ligaments were to be cut. I thought I read somewhere that the nerves would not be cut either...

Anyone else experiencing this?

Re: right thigh numb

Hi Tracy ,
I too experienced this, 10 weeks post op, most numbness is in my knee now, caused by a femoral nerve past, from being in stirrups for so long, should go away by 6 weeks

Re: right thigh numb

For me it is my right calf that is numb. I was checked for blood clots which was negative. The doctor thinks it is just a delayed reaction to being on the table for so long for surgery.

Re: right thigh numb

Hi, I have a lot of weird leg tiredness feeling lower back and hips etc. Im 10 says post op and my legs seem to annoy me the most. What has helped a lot is my husband rubbed my lower back and hips and my legs. I also broke out the heating pad this too helps. At first I didn't know if it was because I was laying down to much for the first week. I have heard that positioning during surgery also contributes to some of those odd feeling. I hope you find some relief best wishes.

Re: right thigh numb

Both of my legs from the knees down were numb for 5 weeks.. When they started to wake up I started to get RLS.. Which sucked so bad. My doc told me at 3 weeks post op that she was almost positive it was nerve issues from being on the table in stirrups for 8 hours, and if they weren't "awake" by 6 weeks out she was sending me to a neurologist. Thankfully, they woke up. Mine felt as though someone was compressing them and not releasing. I remember asking my nurses in the hospital if my leg pumps were working right because I couldn't feel them working.

Re: right thigh numb

Yes, mine is the left leg, doc said it will eventually go away and that this is normal. I feel it has eased up some. Think if I could walk a bit more ( as I used to ) a mile a day with my pup, it would clear up faster.

Re: right thigh numb

I never had any numbness in my legs but I did have a numb patch on my lower stomach area. Not only was it kind of numb but would feel really sore if anything touched it. Felt almost like scratching a sunburn. Never did figure out how a numb area could feel like that when touched. It started to go away at about 5 weeks and now at almost 6 weeks out it is totally gone.
