insurance

I'm scheduled for an LAVH on the 4th of May, I'm now having insurance problems and they are going to postpone my surgery until the dr can send another preauthorization to the insurance, because the insurance is saying my endo is a preexinsting condition. But I haven't had my endo treated for 4 years. Has anyone had their insurance approve a surgery with the 2nd request?

Re: insurance

I would definately fight it and put in a 2nd request. I have had decisions reversed after I've made some noise.

Re: insurance

I had (unrelated to this particular health issue) an EOB arrive today a year later, for my husbands MRI, finally, paid. So instead of owing 3000 dollars, it's 800. Better than nothing.

Keep trying. Good luck.

Re: insurance

My insurance wouldn't approve mine until they had proof from my doctor that I had been treated before and other options were tried before they approved it.

You would think the fact that you have had this going on for some time would give it a rubber stamp approval.

Re: insurance

It sounds as though the insurer is crossing t's and dotting i's.... In other words, they are telling you that your condition is pre-existing, and now you show you've had insurance for xx months (whatever it is in your state) which means that pre-existing conditions are now covered under your current insurance. It sounds pretty standard to me, although I can imagine you're having some anxiety over it.

My guess is that now you are going to be asked to show that your coverage has been continuous. So at that point, it will be up to your insurance carrier(s) to decide who is providing coverage for this.

Keep in mind that this is only my opinion -- I am not an expert in health insurance, and these things really vary state by state. This is just how it generally seems to work for most people.

to you. I hope things get resolved soon.
