Almost 2 weeks

Just had my surgery Mon.13th of Feb. Had a vaginal hysterectomy with no complications, and only my uterus was taken. I need some help! I don't exactly know when to clean, work, have any type of intimate contact with my husband, etc.... Please Help!! I feel fine, no pain except when I make sudden movements and early in the morning, other wise pain free, a little tired and cranky. I am just afraid I am doing to much since I don't feel any pain. I am already back at work, desk job, very easy going, slow paced office.

I was told that I have to wait for the doctor to give a green light before I am to do any type of moderate stress level work or intimacy. 2 weeks is still pretty fresh........ I'd still be very careful.

I had my 2 week check up today and was released for all activity except the intimate stuff. She said to wait another 4 weeks. Definitely do not get intimate for another month! And I had mine via laparoscopy, taking the uterus and ovaries. I feel great and have lots of energy but I know I overdid it today. Good luck!!

TVH on 2/15

Congratulations on a great recovery. Like you, I am feeling good, just tired. My doc told me to take it easy for a while, and that 6 weeks was a reasonable time for healing, but she is fine with me going back to work after 3 weeks of recuperation. She told me I could drive anytime. Just no heavy lifting or intimacy for 6 weeks. Your doctor may have different guidelines. Just remember that even though we may not have pain, we still have incisions that need to heal. Take good care of yourself!

Hi azuriah03
You have some good advice here. I would just add that you might want to look through the Checkpoints to see what to expect at the different stages of your recovery and for some good tips on what to do and not do.
I think its harder for those who don't have any pain sometimes because the temptation to do things you shouldn't do is stronger. Listen to your body. Rest when you are tired and be especially careful about lifting and bending, stretching and that type of thing. You are healing internally and its important not to do things that could cause adhesions to form along with letting stitches heal. Did you have your cervix removed too so you have a vaginal cuff? If so, it is even more important for you to be careful not to be intimate too soon. I think when you keep your cervix sometimes the drs will release a bit sooner.. You should ask your dr though to be sure.
Take care. I hope your recovery continues to go so well.

I had my TVH on the 13th too. I feel okay aside from some nagging belly, gas and vaginal and back pain. But your letter really shows the difference in doctors orders. I was put on bed rest practically for the first two weeks and still take it easy and work slowly up to things three and four weeks and then no driving for three weeks due to my slowed reaction time. I do fear I am stretching stitches and stuff so I dont over do it. Usually "they" say your bosy will tellyou what you can do, but I really feel you can be fooled in this instance. I am gald my doctor ordered me to take it easy ..though I am bored. I hear you about slow paced work. I feel I could do something liek that. I have a bleeding disorder and am still oozing and spotting of course , so it is nice to be home for that reason. best of luck and take care. I am glad the procedure is over ...aren't you!
