Is this normal?

I'm having my TLH in 3 weeks, (my doctor did prepare me for a TAH because of my last surgery went south and they had to switch to cutting me to remove my last fibroids and remove my right ovary) and my lower back pain is killing me. I'm better off not sitting down at all because getting up is very painful. I have 3 fibroids, one is the size of a large cantaloupe and 2 are the size of grapefruit. My uterus is the size of 16-18 wk. My clothes are getting snug and I'm tired all the time because I wake up around 3am and I can't fall back asleep. Is this normal?
I'm not sure if I can make it 3 more weeks. Any suggestions???

Re: Is this normal?

Hi gfreegal -

I am so sorry you are dealing with all of this.

I really don't know if the the insomnia is normal with very large fibroids, but stress can definitely cause it. Maybe talk to your doctor to see if he or she can prescribe something for you to help you sleep.

Warm milk with magnesium supplement before bed? Really helps me.

Re: Is this normal?

I wonder if getting a tummy binder now to hold in your naughty uterus might make you more comfy? Melatonin is often helpful for people with insomnia from all kinds of causes. My DH uses 1 3mg pill and he sleeps like a log.
HTH!
