hysterectomy on monday! very nervous now!

I'm reading all these stories on here now of how the gas is so horrible. I've had 2 c-sections and its coming back to me. My 1st c-section was horrible and the incision split open and I got a horrible infection in it. Anxiety level is going sky high. But I'm so ready for this. So tired of being in pain with endometriosis and cysts and who knows what else is is going on in there.

I was told to expect gas pains after surgery. Just to let you know, I did not experience that at all. So, maybe you will be lucky this time.

Honestly, the gas pain from the surgery was the worst of it but after a few days it does go away and you feel sooooo much better! As for digestive related gas, make sure you eat fresh fruits and veggies and take some kind of laxative (I loved milk of magnesia) so that you ensure you have a normal and not quite so painful first BM. You'll be just fine and having had (and still having) cysts, the pain from those is way worse than any gas I had post-op.

I was where you are now two weeks ago and totally with you about all the upcoming issues. As far as gas pains, they are most likely inevitable, but if you are eating good now & drinking plenty of water, it may not be as much. I also took a stool softener the week before surgery, which I think helped immensely. I had gas pains, but I think they would have been worse had I not done this. Hi just wanted to tell you please don't be worrying yourself to death.I
I had a tah\bsc in Dec and its not too awful honestly.I'm 57 and an so glad I had it.My pain has gone.Please don't listen to the horror stories.The pain is kept minimal now and you don't have to be scared.hope this helps.x
