8 days post hysterectomy: Burning and stabbing pain in abdomen

Hello Ladies!!

This is my actual first post but I have been reading a lot of your posts for the last few weeks. I had an almost full hysterectomy on 2/14/17. Only thing left is my left ovary. It was the only thing healthy.

To make a long story short, I have RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystropy) in my left arm after a nerve block during shoulder surgery. The nerve block wore off and I had a numb spot on my upper arm that felt like someone was stabbing me with a knife and twisting it. Turns out the nerve block damaged my nerve and brought out this RSD into my body.

I am now 8 days post op. I have a big numb area in my belly. My incisions are all fine and I have no pain at any of the incisions sites at all. Turns out I am having this same stabbing pain in the middle of this numb area like I had after my shoulder surgery. I can barely stand straight up b/c the stabbing is so bad. I took a shower yesterday and cried afterwards b/c the pain was so bad. I am terrified that the RSD has spread to my stomach. It can spread to different areas on your body. So basically what I am wondering is if anyone has had nerve pain so bad after a hysterectomy that they just don't want to move. I do not hurt if I don't move. I know this isn't an option so I do get up and move around but it is so painful. Plus I am already on nerve pain medication so I am not understanding why that isn't helping. The only thing I can think of is that I would be in so muc more pain if I wasn't taking it already.

I am sorry this is so long and may have confused anyone. I know that my nerves and muscles are going to take a while to heal. I get that. To me though, this isn't typical healing. I have had two c-sections and I felt nothing like this with either one of them.

Thanks!!

Hello,

I on and off have had and still have stabby pains from nerve stuff, two years post op. But I think considering you are 8 days post op and can't stand up straight or move without pain, you might want to seek medical attention. There's quite a few interior stitches that could be a problem. I'm not familiar with RSD but it's really better to be safe than sorry. Pain like that should never go unchecked.
