Omg This Stuff Tastes Gross!!

My surgery is in the morning and I have started the dreaded bowel prep which my doctors office told me to drink this nasty stuff but the hospital told me to do an enema. Well I figured my doctor must know best that is until I tasted this disgusting stuff. As you can tell I do not do good with icky drinks....cant even do a shot ....lol....anyway I think I have decided after being a good girl and drinking the first half that I am now going to switch to doing an enema in a few hours instead of the second half of that horrible drink. I figure as long as I get all cleaned out I should be ok. I hope anyway. Anyone else have to drink bowel prep junk?

That wouldn't happen to be the dreaded "GoLightely"?

If it is some of the suggestions I have seen posted (and I have had to drink the yummy stuff myself for a colonoscopy) are....

1.Drink it through a straw with the straw well past the taste buds on the front of your tongue.

2. Suck an ice cube before you take a shot to deaden your sense of taste.

3.Pretend you are a contestant on "Fear Factor" and you are going to win a million dollars if you can just drink this down,and it isn't bugs.

4.Call your doc and ask if you need to drink it all,I have seen posts that some people have not had to consume it all, only until the stool is very watery with no solids,but that would be your doctor's call.

Well its already runny if you know what I mean but not clear yet but its only been an hour and 45 minutes. I am going to do an enema around 7 and if I can get it clear that way that other crap is getting flushed....LOL What is the point of making it taste bad? I mean really as if the effects after arent bad enough but to make it taste bad too just isnt right, but thanks for the help. Oh and then you have to mix it with 8 oz of liquid so you dont just have to down 1.5 oz of junk you now have to drink 9 oz of it.....LOL guess thats enough complaining for now.

Well I am jealous I am not getting the mini tummy tuck or lipo Glad everything is good with you and as long as they have pain meds I think i will be fine...lol

I had an endometrial excision last year and had to do a bowel prep....what an experience. I mixed mine with Lemonade flavored Crystal light and I was able to get it down pretty well. I know this won't help you now, but it might help someone down the line. Good luck!

Oh no! I just mixed mine and it is chilling in the refrigerator for another 1/2 hour before I start it! I took my kids to lunch but we didn't get there until 3:30, and the stuff says to wait 3-4 hours after you eat before you start it.

My pharmacist also told me to drink it through a straw, and she said that it tastes better (if it can) when it is cold; so you may try chilling it.

My doctor also told me to drink it until "everything" is clear and that it may not take all of it to get it clear. I was also told to use an enema, but the pharmacist told me that if I drink this as directed an enema would be unnecessary.

My problem is that I already feel sick... my stomach is rumbling, I feel like I about to get a case of the runs anyway, and now I get to drink this, yuck!

Oh man, I am not looking forward to the bowel prep part.
I guess I will find out tommorrow what I get to do the yummy drink or shove something up an area that is an exit only.

Is it ok to mix with crystal light? I will give that a shot and the straw for good measures.

OMG... this is HORRIBLE! Unfortunately though, this taste like our tap water as it is so salty *ugh* now I have started feeling sick to my stomach.

What I want to know is why we were not allowed to get the little flavor packet with it! I was looking at the info online about this great drink, and apparently, there are flavor crystals you can add to it to make it more palatable... they came in orange, grape, or lemon.

Anyway, my husband is on jug and timer duty... so when my 10 minutes are up; here he comes to refill me. I have noticed that the first few glasses went down pretty easy; now I am hiding

Also, when is this supposed to kick in? I may be more than I bargain for asking this question, but I am 1/3-1/2 done, and nothing.

it can take anywhere from 1/2 hour to 6 hours to start working--everyone's system is different.
