Bleeding and Digestive Problems
Hello,
I was in the forum the middle of last month asking about a bleeding problem I'm having. I had a Redical Hysterectomy on Dec. 5--Started bleeding around Dec. 15--and told my doctor about it on Jan. 9. She told me "I'ts just the way you're healing." I called her office on Jan 23 and told her nurse I'm still bleeding and am having intestinal problems (am having problems passing stools). The nurse contacted the doctor who had the nurse call me back and say I should wait another month to see what happens; If I'm still bleeding, I should make an appointment then.
Please give advise if you've had this problem--I think all the straining is causing the bleeding!! I'm really getting worried about this--Should I call my family doctor? Get a second opinion from another GYN.?

Bleeding and Digestive Problems
If it were me, I would not be willing to wait ANOTHER month. I would call the family doc and ask for another recommendation so you can be seen. I wish you the best. Let us know how it goes.

Bleeding and Digestive Problems
i had bleeding recently...and i just hit my 3 month point! my vaginal cuff was still not healing correctly. had my 2nd cauterization/silver nitrate done last week. hopefully it's the last. my doc said the area was only the size of a pea, so it wasn't that bad. but another month would probably mean an infection if you don't already have one. if you call and simply make an appointment for bleeding, they'll see you. i have always found that receptionists don't ask too many questions unless we ask to leave messages for the nurse/doctor. they just make the appointment.

Bleeding and Digestive Problems
Hi Jane,
I'm sorry you're dealing with all of this right now.
You sound very worried and I can understand why the bleeding and intestinal problems would feel so distressing. In my experience, we are very aware of when something isn't right with our own bodies. In fact, I had a great surgeon who always urged me to "Listen to your body." I think you may really be on the right track about calling your family doctor. If you don't get a quick response, or a response that satisfies you that your concerns are being addressed, I wouldn't hesitate to get a 2nd opinion right away. Your health and sense of well-being is truly worth it - even though it sometimes feels hard to seek the advice of another doctor when the first one doesn't seem to be listening.
I hope these issues are taken care of for you soon. Will you let us know what you find out?

I am sorry to say this but these physicians really honkerblonk me off sometimes!
I think that it is unacceptable to blow you off that way. At the very least you should be looked at - it could be as simple as a little silver nitrate to help you heal - it could be something more complicated.
As much as I hate to say it, if you can't make an appointment with your current doctor I think you should make an appointment somewhere else.
I realize that many times during the healing process we tend to think things that are "normal" are a big deal(because to us they are) we deserve to be treated with respect. Physicians are our *employees* - we are paying them to help us, even if it is just to reassure us. If you are healing slowly then you need to be examined a little more closely to try to figure out why (in my opinion).
Besides what I have ranted about -- you might want to try taking some vitamin C (about 1000 mg/day) and zinc (500 mg/day) for a couple of weeks - it is supposed to boost your immune system. I have had problems healing as well -- and bled for nearly 9 weeks. I have had two surgeries to repair my cuff to promote healing - and I am "healthy" (a runner)!!
Good luck. please keep us updated.

OK this is deja vu. I was one who responded to your post last month. At that time I mentioned my weeks of bleeding eventually stopped.. well guess what?! :burning: Just this a.m. when I went to the bathroom I noticed blood on the tissue. As the morning goes on it has turned to light brownish discharge. Now I don't know if this is a mini period or more healing, or from straining This is the pits!! I too have "the wait & see what happens" answer from my doctor. I feel your pain....

The nurse told me to "Get that GYN on the line and demand an appointment." I called the GYN.'s office and told them of my ORTHO'S
