I don't know my doctor

Being a military spouse, moving around so often has prevented me from having a GYN for a long time. In fact, I don't even always see the same one more than once.

I had only seen the doctor who did my surgery twice beforehand. I was lucky in developing a good rapport with him and he was wonderful!

My doctor moved out of town right after my 3 week post op appointment and I had to see his replacement. The new guy was just as nice and I like him but I felt really blessed to have had the doctor I did do my surgery.

I would ask around about him. I found that the nurses and staff loved him and he was probably the most requested doctor they had. Also, like Donna said...listen to your instints.

I hope all works out well for you! Best wishes!

Deb

I don't know my doctor

In the U.K it is very rare to get to know your surgeon, You meet them once, then every other appointment you see one of thier team. The next time you get to meet them will either be the day before your surgery, or when they come round the wards afterwards when your all doped up & can't even see straight, to tell you what they found.

It it even more unusual if you managed to keep the same Gynea for more that a couple of years here, as they get rotated though the system or decide to work at a different hosp.
In 4 years I have seen my Gynea 3 in at least 12 apointments & 4 operations, the rest of the time it has been one of her team & each time it has been a different team member.

There is absolutly no way you can form any kind of understanding of eachother under these conditions.

So yes most of the ladies here in the UK don't get to know thier surgeons before they have any kind of surgery ... Unless they are realy, realy lucky.

I don't know my doctor

Yup. I had one appointment with my surgeon before surgery day and three, or was it four, appointments afterwards. He's a gynecologic oncologist, so his work is very specialized.
