Hi Zia!

Aa you've discovered, you're not "new" to this site long! It's a wonderful source of info from who have been there! I had 2 c-sects '87/'89 and then a TAH/BSOp lus removal of a 5 inch mass. I'm 2 weeks post op and feeling really good. I have a great knight in shining armor and 2 super teens who have helped. A good support system is important. Get your cottage ready before you go and have your recovery room waiting for you when you get home. The TAH really was not as bad for me as the C's. I think being older and knowing what to expect helps. Also, your loved ones are focused on helping you recover now... not playing with the new baby! Just remember...it's a major operation and you'll need to take it easy!
Good luck

Thank you all so much for your words of support. I keep trying to think about how much better I'll feel after I'm all healed from this - trying to be positive. I know the first time back at home will be hard, especially with a very active 2-year-old running around. I told my husband that he'll have to take care of our son totally by himself for a while, and he says he can handle it. I sure hope so! LOL

Chat

I don't know Carletta. I just signed up for AIM today, went to the Chat room and there was no one there. I talked to myself for a couple minutes to make sure it worked and it seemed to do fine. I'm not computer savvy..... is there a help # or maybe delete AIM and try again??!
Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Hi girls!!!

lets see if we can help you.... First thing..chat is monitored from Mon-Fri 11 am to 1 pm CT... and at night mon thru sun from 8-10 CT. On mon-fri...you can catch the "morning crew".. and have coffee from about 7:30 till 10:30...this is not a monitored shift just a time when a lot of ladies come together and share the am.

If you have aim downloaded you do have to keep scrolling down each page from the site to the chat room....you can add my name to your buddy list and I can try to pull you in when you are on.

If you put your aim name here several ladies can add them and they also will try to pull you in when they see you.

If you have problems with aim downloading let me know and we will take it from there....

Hope to see chat soon!!!!!!!

take your meds

Zia: To address your concern about pain, I feel the key is pain management. For the first week after I came home I took my pain meds every 3-4 hours before I needed them; thus surpressing the pain before it got bad. I slept fairly well but somehow I would wake up to take my meds at the right time. I tried to get all my prescriptions filled before the surgery and if possible have the dr. give you twice as many pain meds so you have them "just in case", if he can't do that, plan ahead for the refill. It took my pharmacy a couple of days to refill because they have to call the dr. and at least where I am from the pharmacies are very carefull about distributing pain meds. Eventually I took only 1/2 a pill along with a tylenol, then just tylenol and have not taken anything for awhile.

Take it slow, lay around and then lay around some more. Everyone is different as you will find from this site. I was reading some posts where some ladies where walking miles after two weeks. It motivated me to get up and around but no way was I ready to walk that far at that time.

HI,

I return to work on July 2. So I will be ending my recovery as you start yours. I am 12 days post op and feeling great! My biggest problem is the boredom. I have watched three video's today (don't bother with Vanilla Sky!!! What an awful movie and I LOVE Tom Cruise)

Pain was minimal. I had a laproscopic gall bladder surgery with the complication of Pancreatitis in August. Let me tell you, the pain with the hyst was nothing like that pain. I was prepared for much worse!!

Good luck and keep busy. The waiting is really the worst! (or maybe not.... the boredom after surgery is the worst!!!)
