Keeping ovaries ~ confused

Hi, I just joined and I've got a question for ya. My surgery is scheduled for 1-13-11 ( taking uterus, cervix, already had tubel and removal of polyps and cyst. Adenomyosis suspected during surgery. Problems came back a few months later and now hysterectomy planned for 1-13-11) ANYWAYS, I'm keeping my ovaries. Will I still have mood swings? Another post said something about night sweats? I thought if you kept your ovaries that stuff wouldn't happen. What am I missing? I'm confused now!!!
Thanks!!!

Re: Funny moments post-op

Sometimes after major GYN surgery the ovaries go into a state of shock. It can take them a little while to snap out of it and start to do their thing again but some DRs will add hrt for thatr time period. You may want to ask about that to find out if it is a good option for you to consider.

It's great to have you join us!

As ((Lady Poet)) says, it's not uncommon for the ovaries to go into shock due to the trauma of surgery ~ resulting in menopausal symptoms ~ and it can vary considerably as to how long they take to wake up again. Equally, many ladies don't experience this problem! You can find more information in our article here. (As a side note, if you suffer with PMS now, then it's quite likely it will continue if you keep your ovaries). If you've not discovered it already, please check out our <link> Pre-Op Page too, which is packed with information.

Sending all good wishes for your surgery and recovery!
