i feel like a deer caught in the headlights of a on coming car!

I'm turning into a basket case, can't think straight and concentrate. Today I stop at store on the way home from work I was thinking about what else needs to be done and realized I missed my turn and had to turn around. I drove about 5 miles before I realized this, oops! Plus I'm quitting my jobe monday is my last day and had to train my replacement this week. I know this a bold move but don't want to do housekeeping anymore. Just want wed to get here and all this waiting done.

The waiting is the worst part but you WILL get through it. God's blessings and peace to you. Isaiah 41:10 might help you. See you on the other side!

Re: i feel like a deer caught in the headlights of a on coming car!

Totally understand the anxiety. I had not had surgery except for wisdom teeth years ago and emergency D & C after my daughter was born 28 yrs ago. I felt as though my life was not in my control and people were forcing me to do things that I really hated and didn't want to do. Anger instead of fear! However, I went along (knowing it was the best thing to do) and now on the other side I'm fine. I'm improving everyday and looking forward to resuming my life shortly and going on vacation, going back to work, getting a puppy, riding my horse...you get the picture. Yes, things are out of your control for a short while but it will be ok. The hospital staff was awesome from Dr to anesthesiologist to nurses and aides. I had a great little support group and my husband has been a saint! Good luck!

Nancy, I did the same thing the other day. I swear I'm so distracted I'm surprised I haven't burned the house down cooking. I just laugh and tell myself, I will get through this!

I feel the same way. I am way over preparing. There's always pizza delivery. Surgery on Monday. Hoping to just chill on Sunday. What ever I don't have checked off my list at that point..isn't getting done. And I'm ok with that.

Re: i feel like a deer caught in the headlights of a on coming car!

I understand! My surgery is on Monday. I go in & out of CRAZINESS. Now that I've gotten MY LISTS mostly accomplished, my brain has stopped racing (for the most part). MAKE LISTS, CROSS THINGS OFF, IT HELPS!!! The lists here, on what to bring to the hospital, what to have ready at home, etc. are TRULY a huge help. I still want to do some cleaning this weekend & hit the grocery store one more time. Honestly, I have a notepad next to me at all times, and ... I just wrote down ice pops! LOL! I know that after surgery, my throat is going to bother me (from that breathing tube they put down your throat), so I'll WANT popsicles when I get home!

Try to relax (and I will to!) ... we'll ALL get through this TOGETHER!!!!!

Re: i feel like a deer caught in the headlights of a on coming car!

oh its normal and natural to feel everything your feeling im 10 days post op. and had every feeling your describing
the best advice i can give you is that when your friends/neighboors/family ask what can they do for you its ok to say. this is what i will need.
I actually made a list to all my friends.. a general one and emailed it off. it was great..
RElAX.. relax go do something nice for yourself before surg even if its free. treat yourself you have to think of your bettering your Health so your in turn bettering your self as person.

i made tons of lists.. and organized everything. this 1st week home has been a very comforting.

See you on the other side and you can do this!! =)
