Question

Hello ladies,

I have been reading the various posts up here and was wondering what a "Vaginal Cuff" was.. ?

I am having a TAH/RSO on the 26th of this month also having cervix removed. So far my Dr. hasn't mentioned this to me...What is this and is it standard to have it done with removal of cervix..

Thanks

Patricia

Question

If you do a search of "vaginal Cuff" you will find a bunch of good explanations.

As far as I understand it, it is what those of us who have had the cervix removed have. THey need to close off the vaginal canal so that nothing foreign ends up in our abdomens. I have seen it likened to the seam on a tube sock, or a folded over toilet tissue roll.

I has stitches, and it needs to heal well. That is why those of us who have no abdominal stitches still have to abide by the restrictions.

hope this helps.
