Prometrium question

GP put me on Prometrium. Strange thing is that my weight loss seems easier since I've been on it (more consistent loss). One side effect that I don't like, though, is the weepiness. A couple days ago I was ready to cry at the drop of a hat - whether it was something sad or not - honestly. I felt like I was going nuts or something.

Anyone else had the easier weight loss and/or the crying thing happen?

I was prescribed to take it from day 18 to day 27. I have two more days left in this cycle.

Re: Prometrium question

Weight loss for me has been much easier with progesterone. It may take you a while to get used to the Prometrium, maybe a couple months for your body to adjust. What dose are you taking?

Re: Prometrium question

he has me on 200 mg.

That's interesting that you have an easier time with weight on it, too. Wonder what it is....

I'm on my second cycle with it, so hopefully next month will get easier emotionally.

Re: Prometrium question

I did cyclic HRT for three months and it didn't do anything good for me.

The only time I've been 'weepy' was way back pre op when my own ovaries were going wacko. I would guess its fluctuation causing it. The P may help smooth things out for you. I take 100 mg a day, every day of the month--but I don't have ovaries so its different for me.

I tried going off the P and didn't like it at all. I didn't continue to lose weight as I had been for months before stopping. I would have had a hard time believing that the P had so much to do with the weight loss until I lived through it myself.

We are all different, you can probably find women with an opposite experience. Keep a journal of what its doing to you, it could be very handy in the future.
