What to expect

Hello all,
I came across this website by accident and registered immediatly! I will have my surgery on Sept. 26th and I am a nervous wreck. I have been cleaning the house like mad and my moods have been all over the place! I am having a partial hysterecotomy leaving my ovaries but my cervix will be removed. I will also have a cystocele and a rectocele done. Is there anyone out there that had these other procedures done at the same time and how did it affect your recovery?

Re: What to expect

Hi! I'm having similar and add a bladder sling on the 25th. I just started freaking out today. I thought I was doing ok. Tonight I became a sobbing mess.

I know we will be much better after our surgeries.

Re: What to expect

Hang in there ladies. Have faith. It will be behind you soon. I was a wreck as well. I remember crying in the shower. Thinking for sure I was dying. I had doctors really scare me .... but in the end it was all amazing. I'm not perfect but feel so much better...and happier. I was a wreck so I know how you are feeling. Just have faith. Don't worry so much about the cooking...etc. They will find a way to manage. Do your best but don't kill yourself over it.

Re: What to expect

I had the same procedures done a week ago tomorrow. Recovery hasn't been bad at all considering all that they have done. Mine was done with the DaVinci. My uterus and cervix was removed. My left ovary was stuck to my pelvic wall in endometriosis, so that was cleaned up well and they had to remove the endo from other areas. Then they did the cystocele and rectocele repair.

My only surprise was that I had an episiotomy. I was NOT expecting that and that was my biggest complaint the first few days after. It's much better now though.

I am now off all pain meds except one 200mg ibuprofen every 6 hours. The day of surgery, I felt great and had very minimal pain. They got me up to walk the halls that evening. Wasn't too bad...I was just very weak and used the IV pole as a crutch. Day 2 was worse. I was hurting more, having trouble peeing and I was depressed because I had felt so good the day before and couldn't understand why I wasn't feeling better. Day 3 was better, I was going up and down the stairs quite a bit and even took a walk about 5 houses down and back. Day 4 worse. Listen to your body and don't push yourself. I was pushing myself and I quickly learned that was a big mistake.

My first bm was uneventful and didn't hurt at all. That was one of my biggest fears. I've had 4 bm's now and the last 2 have been painful even though they weren't hard. I think my body is just in shock from everything that's happened.

All in all though, I complained more the day before surgery from my bowel prep. I would much rather recover from surgery than have to do that again!

I've spent most of my time walking the halls in my house and watching movies in bed. I'm out of work for 6 weeks, so I'm just going to take advantage of that, let my body heal and let others do for me.

Remember, LISTEN TO YOUR BODY! No matter how well you feel, don't push yourself or it will throw you back a day. If I feel well enough tomorrow, I'm going to ride with DH to the store to pick up some panty liners (bleeding has been so minimal that's all I need) and a couple of other things. I was given the ok to drive, but I can tell I'm not ready.
