TAH 4-30-13 how do I explain it to my 3 year old

I am having a TAH on 4/30/13 not really scared about anything except how to handle my rough and roudy 3year old son. He loves to take a run and go and hit you in the stomach just playing and lay on my lap but why doing so he squirms right where my incisions going to be. Plus he ways 50 lbs way over what the doctor said my whight limit will be for six weeks son picking him up which he still likes mommy to do. How do I explain do him he can't do these things and mommy can't pick him up any tips will be greatly appreciated.God Bless

Start preparing him now. Find something you can do special (a fist bump or something like that) and "practice" that every time you hug him. Then, before you head off to the castle have one last practice and explain that it will be a long time.

You may also want to prepare a "count-down to real hugs" calendar for 7 weeks post surgery. If you feel better on time or early, you can always sneak one in.
