UAE Scheduled 12/22/15!

I am going to call tomorrow. I am hoping I can get in this month . I need to get a few things arranged for myself and my kids. I have read the mixed reviews but I am trying to stay positive. The doctor has a great reputation and has done a lot of these. He also delivered my niece ten years ago with a very high risk c- section and was wonderful. I am going to be nervous no matter what I decide. I will let you know when I get a date set.... I read quite a few success stories on this site so that is helpful!

Just thought I'd mention, ultrasounds may not show everything. I had US and MRI both showing subserosal and intramural fibroids, with one having a "submucosal component." When my doctor did a hysteroscopic D&C/myomectomy, he found two separate submucosal fibroids, not just a "component." Also, the intramural ones may distort the shape of the uterus, which can impact the shedding of the lining. So it could be more than just perimenopause. But, of course, there's no way to know for sure until they get in there! :/

Lorene, I hope you can get something scheduled soon. You deserve to feel better! Hopefully the Nova Sure can help tide you over until menopause hits. Nova Sure isn't possible for my situation (my doctor said my fibroid was filling up my uterus so much he wouldn't be able to get the instruments in there!) but my GYN said it had helped a lot of his patients. Thanks ladies. I called to schedule and an waiting for a phone call back. I am so nervous and scared now that it won't work. Or I'll have complications . My anxiety is horrible ...I don't know weather to just try the hormones another month but in bleeding again this morning and j am so tired of it all . I just want my life back. I was feeling good about this yesterday and then I made the mistake of looking up crap online and freaked myself out. It seems the small percentage of unsuccessful ablations are the ones that we hear about . I just want to cry.

Lorene... I totally understand how you are feeling. I'm two weeks out from the choice I made and I'm STILL reading stuff on line about complications with UAE etc.

Last night I stumbled on the hers foundation site (which I've avoided for years ) and started reading all the bad stuff about UAE and finally just had to put the phone down.

It took a long time for me to understand there is no perfect solution medically, mentally, holistically etc for these issues.

The best we can do is try to make informed choices and seek out the most competent doctors to helps us see those choices out.

If you truly feel like it's not right. Seek out other options. But we all have cases of the "what ifs". Hell, I had a totally crying, oh-my-God-what - have -I got my self into jag the first night at the hotel in Oregon. It was 1 am and I was sure it was all a mistake.

So it happens . But remember! We are some of the most well read and informed women out there! Trust your gut! And we are always here to offer what support we can

Thank you for the support! I am scheduled for my procedure Jan 26. I scheduled a preop appt. for January 15. I am going to ask all my unanswered questions that day and then make my final decision. I am feeling more confident now that I made my appt. I know it could work great and it could not work but the stats are in my favor. I refuse to read another negative post online ! Hers foundation is horrid!! I know from going through chemo 20 years ago it was really bad and I had people telling me to eat a certain diet to cure cancer, etc. well, I am alive today because I wrnt through surgery and chemo and it was horrible. But it saved my life. I have had a lot of medical procedures that were scary and it has caused me some PTSD! I understand the meltdowns and the tears...I have had a few already! It's so good to have support here! We have a right to get upset and be afraid and frustrated. Hugs!

Yup, stay away from those crazy sites! Dr. Google is not a licensed physician.

It can be scary getting treatment, but this is something you can do. You beat cancer, you can knock those fibroids to the curb too!

Kigarro, happy new year! I'm so glad you made it home ok. And thanks for sharing about the bloating going down. My uterus has been feeling full the past few days, and every time I put my hand there when I'm sleeping, it feels like I've got a melon inside. I'm really looking forward to next week and some relief!

I had a good chuckle about you tipping yourself into bed I guess if our runt of a cat can get herself up there, so can I! At least if it gets too difficult I can just sleep on the futon for a few days.

Loren, I'm so sorry to hear about your clotting and bleeding lately. We've all been there, and I've been depressed and discouraged recently too.

I hope you get your questions answered during pre-op. When I finally talked to my radiologist, I felt like the weight of the world was lifted from my shoulders. I think just getting to the right medical professional made a difference psychologically.

Juil! What day is your UAE? I can't remember :-/

I'm glad the tipping into bed visual was amusing but in all honesty I had no issues getting in or out of bed ( other than just being old and chubby heh)

So we have Cheese, Juil and Lorene all getting treatment this month ! Very exciting!

Just an update:
Yesterday and today have been awesome as far as feeling less tired and no cramping. The spotting was heavier Sunday and Monday but seems to be lightening up. Overall feeling really good
