12 days post hysterectomy: Pain and Bloated

I've felt good the last week or so. No pain during walking, some discomfort sitting but nothing bad.

Today has been different. Walking I was having a lot of discomfort...pressure feeling in the abdomen. Tonight I've felt bloated and a lot of discomfort and some pain. I took ibuprofen and have not eaten anything different and am not constipated.

Is it just part of the healing process or something to be concerned about?

You are a little further in the healing process than I am (I'm 5 days out), but I experienced a little bit of what you're talking about, today. I did a couple of pretty small tasks around the house and about 2 hours later, I really started having some discomfort. Mind you, I did absolutely nothing physically strenuous. However, I found myself wanting to go to bed early this evening as my pain was getting to me a little.

I would assume it's all part of the trip to recovery. I am going to try to really take it easy tomorrow and see if that helps. It just seems like our bodies are trying to tell us when they need a break...after all they have been through a lot!

Prayers to you in your recovery

Re: 12 days post hysterectomy: Pain and Bloated

Healing isn't a straight line but comes in stages: earlier scar tissue gets replaced by new scar tissue and the old tissue dissolves. It's during that time we feel twinges and zingers. Too, when we begin to resume activities, we'll notice the Swelly Belly more as fluids gather to surround the surgical inflammation. At 12 days, I was still popping the occasional ibuprofen, especially if I walked too much. I also have a renewed fondness for expando-waist clothes since surgery !

Remember to pace yourself and continue to include 30-45 minutes of rest/reclining between light activities. It's a long term process.

Rest well!
