endometrial ablation

I had an ablation in Feb. 06. I had no bleeding at all for 3-4 months but still had all the other menstrual symptoms ,and the cramping got far worse than any I have ever had. Then I slowly started spotting, light at first ,then heavier every month. By Dec. 06 I was almost as bad as before the procedure but now with horrible sharp shooting pains in my uterus most of the time. In Feb. 07 I was back at the surgery center getting another D&C. My dr. and I decided we tried all the alternatives, they didnt work, hyster is the next logical step. My dr. said I am the first patient she's had with an unsuccessful EA, they work very well on most people. So here's hoping you're one of the lucky ones.

endometrial ablation

Hi clmonair

Goodness, you went through quite a time there!

I'm glad you tolerated your procedures well.
I had several weeks of discharge after my ablation. It varied between light pink & light brown. At times it got a little discouraging because it lasted for so long, but compared to the hemorrhage type bleeding I had before the ablation, it was nothing. So I just needed to remind myself sometimes where I'd come from. You might get to that point at times too. Hang in there though.

My ablation didn't work for me because of adenomyosis, but I sure as heck have no regrets about trying the ablation first. One of my sisters and 2 friends have had successful ablations so my only way to see if it would work for me was to try. I would have done a repeat if I'd been a candidate for one. Knowing I'd already tried an ablation really helped me a lot when it was time to decide on the hysterectomy.

My older sister and one of my friends has never had another period since theirs. The other one does still have a slight period but she said the bleeding is so much lighter now that she no longer feels she has any problem. I hope you get a very good result. Please keep us posted.

Gentle s,
Beth
