very scared anyone please help?

Anyone please help? I am 6 wks post op and a couple of days ago after I had my shower I looked down and saw blood, a good drop on one of my milk ducts on the areola (brown part) of the nipple. I went for an ultrasound that morning and then they suggested ontop of that they would do a mammogram. They said they found nothing that looked suspicious but if the bleeding happened again get straight back to them. The bleeding happened spontainiously and I am so scared and confused at what has caused it, as I know I did not injure it or rub it. Could this be from all the drugs during and after surgery? Has this ever happened to anyone before.
I am so frightened. Please help?

For now, I would just be encouraged that I'd had good tests (mammogram and ultrasound) and that they're clear. Believe me, mammograms are extremely sensitive and show up the slightest problem.

If you're still worried, then go back to your doctor. If nothing else, it'll reassure you further. There's a good chance that strange drop of blood was caused externally, somehow.

I'm sure everything is fine.

BIG S to you.

I have no answers for you either. I just wanted to let you know that I wish you the best. On a positive note, your tests came back ok but definetely call the doc if there is another episode of bleeding.

That never happened to me and I haven't heard of it happening to anyone else. But try not to worry since the mammogram and ultrasound didn't show anything. I'm sure everything is ok but wanted to send you a

thank you

I appreciate your kind words and thoughts ladies and I am off for my six week check tomorrow. I will mention this to my gyno and then possibly ask for a referral to a breast specialist to be on the safe side. I have had a needle biopsy before and would not be surprised if they suggest one for this to be so sure there is nothing suspicious that has been overlooked.
You all take care and fingers crossed hey that I get some good news soon.

(((loverofcats))) I'm glad you're going to see your DR and talk about this problem. I had never heard of such a thing, either, until it happened to me about a month ago. It was so scary! Especially since I had breast cancer last year (in the other breast).

As it happens I had just had a mammogram the week prior, and it came back A-OK but my GYN sent me to the surgeon who did my breast surgery anyway. After doing an exam, asking me tons of questions and poring over the mammogram, he told me it's a benign ductal papilloma. He said it will probably never bleed again, and if it doesn't, we will leave it alone. But, if it does bleed again, he wants to remove just the duct -- not because of any cancer issues, but because of the danger of infection. He said it is not connected with my cancer diagnosis at all.

Hopefully you will hear the same thing - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

-Linda

I had something similar happen to me about 8 yrs ago, so my memory of it is a bit foggy. I was having my annyal gyno exam when the dr kind of squeezed by the nipple like they do and some blood dripped out. I remember them doing what I think was a needle biopsy of the breast, and I ended up having the ducts taken out of that breast. No cancer, a same day in and out procedure, and a quick recovery. I probably had what SURFERBABE had in hers, I just dont remember the technical name for lots of little balls that pop and bleed. I was scared, but everything turned out OK and I'm sure yours will too. I will keep you in my prayers.

A friend that had an abd hyst/one ovary taken 18 months ago had the same situation 6 weeks post-op. She was diagnosed with an intra-ductal papilloma. She's doing fine. Good luck.

just to let you kind girls know

Hi just wanted to let you all know how I went seeing the specialist. He attempted to squeeze blood from the duct but was unsuccesful. Since the scans said everything was okay he was alright with leaving it until it bleeds again.
He was not my surgeon that I had been seeing over the last six years. First time with this one and was uncomfortable with him being male and also with him saying let's wait. He said it is probably a ductal papilloma and if so the duct would need removed. I was curious when I looked at his business card after the visit and saw that he is a general laparoscopy surgeon and gastroentestinal. Is there such thing as a breast specialist? Would you all agree seek another opinion? I would but don't know if I am being paranoid. Still worried.
Take care all of you.
