Anyone....

anyone been cleared for intercourse at 3 weeks?? I had my 3 week check up today. I'm officially 3 weeks and 4 days and she said I could go ahead. She said normally its 6 weeks but since I kept my cervix and it wasn't touched that I was safe to do it if I felt up to it.
I'm feeling pretty good and feel like I "want" to but I guess I'm still a little scared that I'll hurt myself. I wasn't expecting her to say go ahead until 3 more weeks....
Anyone????

Thanks,
Cindy

What did she mean by your cervix "not being touched"? The cervix is a part of the uterus and in order to get the uterus out, it is cut away from the cervix. Granted that's on the other side, but it certainly has been "touched". IMHO

3 weeks seems early. Do you have any discharge or spotting?

Anyone....

When she said "it wasn't touched" she meant touched near my vagina. She said my cervix is very long and there were no stitched close to my vagina that she would be concerned about.
I had spotting the day of my surgery and then on day 10 (brown spotting when I wiped) but nothing since then. She did an internal exam today and said everything looked perfectly normal and she saw no blood or discharge.
I thought 3 weeks seemed early too and she said normally it is but in my case it would be fine.

I was cleared at two weeks for intercourse by the doctor, but didn't feel ready myself until four weeks. It may depend on what sort of surgery you had. I wouldn't rush it if I were you. Even when I had the medical go ahead, I still felt like I should wait a little longer before I was comfortable and sure I wasn't going to hurt myself. You'll (probably) have enough things to worry about/going through your head that first time, you don't want to add 'is it too soon?' to that.

Anyone....

I had an abdominal hysterectomy. The original plan was to remove my uterus and cervix but when I woke up I found out that I kept my cervix due to scar tissue. I'm thinking that I will just wait and see what happens. If the "mood" strikes then I'll go through with it very gently and if not then I'll know when the time is right.

Thanks,
Cindy

I was cleared for intercourse at 10 days post op. I didn't feel ready then so we ended up waiting till about the 5th week. Don't rush yourself. Listen to your body.
