Lost, sad & tired

Hello ladies,

my first post here but have been reading posts before my surgery on Feb 11, 2009-9 weeks out now. Love this site and all of you

Had total hysterectomy with everything removed...had endo, cysts and andemyosis...bad pain and bleeding....though I am happy it is all over and the pain and bleeding gone, I am so struggling now.

I am 41 yrs. and am on climara patch and take pristiq (ad), crestor and I feel so lost in sadness with all my hormonalness and it really tires me out. I am freaking out on my facial breakouts, my face is dry and scaly, my mind in a fog, sleep is poor, am cold all the time (live in Houston), and am starting to get hot flushes while i sleep waking me in sweat and to top it all off, my chol is high for the first time!

I don't know what is wrong with me, I think I need some more of something but don't know what...I am scheduled to see my internist to get tested for thyroid and hormones and get my chol rechecked...I see my psych next week, thinking my meds need adjusting....I was fine before my surgery...why has my life changed? Help!

Would appreciate any words of wisdom,

Becky

Re: Lost, sad & tired

Don't know that I have wisdom to offer, but sympathy and caring are there for you. I know I needed the surgery, but it's a lot to get over. I've always had low blood pressure and with the Lupron and the Danazol I took before the surgery it flipped me to much higher. Was told that it just meant that it was waiting for me when I went into menopause - not very comforting. I would have thought by now there would be ways for them to figure out ways to keep our hormones in check to not let this stuff happen.

Chin up, smile and know it will get better. You are not alone!

Re: Lost, sad & tired

Becky, I am really sorry to hear you aren't feeling well.

I am glad you have an appt with your to discuss changing your meds and getting some bloodwork done. Major surgery can really wreak havoc on us. I hope your doc can get you feeling better soon.

Remember that we are all here for you.

Re: Lost, sad & tired

Hi Becky. Sorry you are going through so much with all the hormonal changes. Hopefully your doctor will be able to get all the meds straightened out so you can feel more back to normal. Too bad all the hormones and changes are so complicated! I have told my SO more than once that it seems like medicine would be more advanced by now - like they could just run something over you that checks every single things all at once and tells you how to fix it.

The hot flashes and some depression over not being back to 100% (especially at work) are wearing me down. Know that there are lots of us out here full of empathy and in the same boat! HUGS!!

Re: Lost, sad & tired

I know when I was taking Prestiq, it made my hot flashes worst and my breakouts. My doctor changed it to lexapro and my flashes are better. He said that certain antidepressants will do that.
