Lapro Hyster Post op twice...discomfort and abcess

HI,
I just wanted to share my story. I hope it will help others. I had a laproscopic hysterectomy on April 28, 2009 due to fibroids and had a routine surgery...so I thought. The day after surgery I felt pressure around my whole abdomen and it worsened when I went to the bathroom and new something wasn't right. The hospital released me anyway. I called the doc office and they proceeded to tell me it was just everything shifting back to where it was supposed to be and the healing. After 2 weeks and not feeling better and woke with a fever I called the doc again. This time I was told to call my GP (general Practioner) that they didn't handle gastro issues...ended up going to ER and they did a cat scan and saw a pocket of fluid. They kept me overnight to give me IV antibiotics, released the next day, and followed up with my doc. He said to just continue my oral antibiotics and that was the end of it until 4 months after surgery had same pain as the day after surgery but it subsided after 2 days...no fever. Then 6 months after surgery I had the pain and discomfort return and called doc immediately. I went in they did an ultrasound and found a pocket of fluid that was 6 cm. This was on a Monday and of course my docs day off. On Tuesday the doc called and set me up for surgery on Friday. I now have a drainage tube for 6 days to remove any fluid and the abscess has been removed. Hoping to heal correctly now. I wanted to share this with you, as we are our own advocates and we need to listen to our bodies. I knew something was wrong but no one heard me. I was unaware of this website to find answers that may have helped me.
